Sarajane and Rakesh founded ShangrilaGems in 2009, bringing together a unique blend of expertise, passion, and global connections. They specialise in unusual, fully traceable diamonds, coloured gemstones, cabochons, and gemstone beads, offering a truly distinctive and ever-evolving collection.
Rakesh studied for his MSc in Jaipur, the gem capital of India, and has built an exceptional network of trusted sources - he seems to know everyone in the trade. Alongside his work in gemstones, he is also an Ayurvedic health specialist. Sarajane, a former KPMG management consultant, brings a keen eye for design, colour and curation.
ShangrilaGems began when Rakesh took Sarajane to Jaipur to source stones for her jewellery-making classes. Spotting a gap in the market, they combined their skills and experience to build what is now, 17 years later, an extensive and carefully curated collection - if you’re looking for something unusual, chances are they’ll have it!
